Opposition

My night shift went quite slowly last night. I slept in this morning until 1pm and it is now nearly midnight and i am still wide awake. I have my christmas lights in the lounge flashing and christmas is on its way.

The New Zealand news has been full of politics today. The opposition National Party have elected a new leader. They are to the right of politics and were not keen on implementing the civil union bill that was passed two years ago. In fact, most of the party voted against it. It has also turned out that they have been getting money from extremist right religious groups both here and in the United States.
The tragic thing is that the new leader is quite popular and i think that the 2008 election will see them gain popularity. Oh the joys of politics!

Tomorrow I am packing for my long trip to New York. I havent done a list but i think it will all come to me as to what i will need.

Sunday

The concert in the park last night was great but the wind changed direction from a warm wind to a cooler wind but it was still good. The fireworks display was awesome and it done the city proud.

I have been checking out my New York map today looking at and confirming where things are in the city. It looks like it is going to be cold but it is all ok.

Im working overnight again tonight. It is only the one shift so i think i can cope but i am going to bed for an hour now to psyche myself up!

Loves you all.

Xmas is cumming

Tonight is the time for my city to celebrate the coming of christmas. Tonight in the city park there is a concert and grand firework display sponsored by TV3 and Coca Cola. The whole city turns out for it and it is such a beautiful warm night at about 15c. It takes place every year and it is always crowded and has coffee stalls and hot dog stalls.

This year we are going to watch it from the back as last year there was a mad scramble to leave the park which took a while to clear.

Tomorrow i will go out to buy some christmas decorations before they sell out of the best things.

Ok, im off to Coca Cola Christmas in the Park. I might have a few drinks afterwards.

Cheque Account

After years of paying atrocious amounts of money to have a cheque account here in New Zealand, 2 of our biggest banks have decided to scrap fees for using electronic banking services AND if you decide to stop paper statements then they wont charge you the $3.50 per month account fee. This is fantastic news as i will probably save about $15.00+ per month. I will have to pay a charge if i use another banks ATM (50c) but apart from that, zip. I will just use my own banks ATM machines!

Therefore, THANKYOU to Westpac Bank and to ASB Bank.

These two banks are the first to do free banking here but ANZ Bank, Kiwibank and Bank of New Zealand have reacted by doing a $5.00 per month flat fee for everything (except using someone elses ATM).

So with my $15.00 savings that i will make each month, i must spend it on something.

Any suggestions guys?

Less than a week before i go to New York, i cannot wait.

Ok, im off to bed as another early start in the morning to pay for my trip.

David Beckham

Today i was at work and i found a magazine during my break and staring at me was DAVID BECKHAM. God he is HOT! I have always been a bit of a soccer fan and have watched many games and many players have got me going but he seems to pull my strings! Does anyone know if he is bi!? Soccer, now that's a game that is so sexy. Perhaps i should start to play.

I have been for a haircut today. It is my first one in over three months and it had grown just a bit too much. Now though i look super handsome again so im happy.

Hairy wins!

Well it seems like hairy guys are a winner with us gays! So there you go, sell all your shares in Gilette because hair is going to be the next craze.

I have had the day off work today so i took the chance to have a stroll around the city and do some window shopping. Unfortunately it's an early start at work for me tomorrow morning so im off to bed.

Good night.

Smoothe or hairy?

I have been looking at a couple of blogs lately as well as looking at some pictures of some topless male models. It seems that hairy men seem to be becoming more and more popular.

I was trying to think what I prefer. I think that i fall at the two extremes either naturally hairless or very hairy!

I will say though i'm not into shaved chests, legs or backs. There is nothing worse than cuddling up to a guy and feeling that he is shooting needles into your skin and scratching your skin. Either wax or dont shave at all.

What does everyone else prefer? SMOOTHE OR HAIRY?

Taxis

Today is a day of getting a gripe off my chest. And that gripe is TAXI DRIVERS.

In my city they have to be the worst drivers on the entire planet. Over the years I have nearly had three major incidents and all have cocerned taxis and all were the taxis thoughts.

My first incident was a few years ago on my cycle. The driver failed to give way to me when i was turning. The tragic thing was that he never stopped and it was up to his passengers who turned to look out the back window to make sure i was ok. He never knocked me off my bike due to my last minute reaction.

My second incident was getting into a taxi as a youngster. The taxi driver released the hand break as i was about to get into the taxi and he ran over my foot as the car slipped forward.

My third incident was not long ago. A taxi driver failed to stop for me as i was crossing a pedestrian crossing. He saw me and was going at 50kph. He didnt want to stop. If it wasnt for me diving out of the way i doubt that I would be here typing now!

The taxi scenario was bought to the subject of my blogging today because i saw a terrible taxi driver who was flashing his wrong indicator and then double parking for almost 10 minutes so no one could pass him .He was adament he was going to stay where he was. There were more than 10 angry cars behind him!

Phew, i feel a bit better now i have got that off my chest! Are taxi drivers like that in other cities?

South Africa

Todays blog space has to be reserved for congratulating the country of South Africa on their parliaments vote to hopefully legalise gay marriage. They have been through an apartheid system where segregation created hostilities and they learnt from it. They now appear to understand that eveyone is equal. Let other countries take note of their new equality and fairness (of course i do recognise that Sth Africa does still have some inequality issues).

It is the start of a long weekend for me as tomorrow (friday) is our regional anniversary day so no work for me. Im not sure what im going to do just yet.

I think im now going to have a beer!

Supermarket

Tonight me and my boyfriend went out to the new supermarket called Pak'n Save. The new store is located in the poorest area of our city and believe me there were some interesting shoppers! Saying that, i think we made an interesting sight in the supermarket for 2 reasons

Reason 1: We went through the self service checkout which is great, all accept that my bf did not scan his bottle of cafeine free diet coke (accidently) so the machine alarmed and there was a little bit of confusion but after some explaining he was allowed home with me. The trouble he gets into!!

Reason 2: My bf met a friend of his sisters in the store and they were chatting away. Now she was looking at him funny so i naturally looked at what she was looking at.......Oh my god I thought there is something dry and crusty on his face!
You see, we were feeling a little horny before going to the supermarket (as you do).....and im not going to explain the rest but all i can say is i dont know how i managed to get it on his face.

Now, i was not going to give you reason 2 as it sounds a bit pervy but i found it so funny that i just needed to share it..(no pun intended). If anyone is offended i apologise now and i will delete it.

It is my last night shift tonight and i am so pleased. Last night i managed to only yawn once or twice but from 2-5 is my worst time i think.

Keep smiling everyone.

Argghhhh

I feel extremely jetlag after night number two. Im just off to work. Sleeping today was a bit of a shocker as it was 28c with a very warm wind. when i opened the window, the neighbour decided to mow the lawn so i promptly closed it again. I got about 4 hours sleep.

On a better note. Is Dr Phil for real? He seems to grace Channel 3 of our TV every weekday afternoon at 1pm. He seems a nice guy but I cant quite understand why he would solve problems for TV entertainment. Oh well, i guess he enjoys it.

More night shifts

I am back doing four more night shifts. Last night was very quiet at work and I was so tired but had to stay alert. I grabbed about 4 hours sleep this morning and I am off to work again in a minute. @am seems to be my bad hour and then i gradually start to rally round at 5.30am. The things I have to do to earn the money to take me to New York.

Some good news today, I see that the NZ Dollar is going up against the US Dollar. The usual rate is about NZ$1=US$0.50 but it is currently $0.66 so i will get more for my money. That reminds me, i had better get my cash this week.

Spring is slowly coming here but it felt a bit like autumn today. Tomorrow is supposed to be great though but i will probably sleep through it.

Has anyone read the book by Jim McGreevy the ex New Jersey governor who has come out. I saw it recommended on the net and I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if it's a good read. It will be interesting to see how he rationalises his old views.

Ok, good night and im off to work.

Weekend starts here!

The weekend starts here!

First thanks for all your comments on New York. You have all been most helpful. I will takes lots of photos and post them on here as soon as i return.

Today has been a great day weatherwise.-25c and sunny. We went to a health awareness concert in the City Park today. The turnout was generally poor but i dont think they promoted it too well. It had a Maori band and most people were maori or Samoan in the crowds so i think that it may have been directed solely at our indiginous people with very little advertising given to Europeans. Still it was a good day with a few stalls offering food and health advice and of course lots of music.

It's a quiet Saturday night in for me tonight. Just here drinking a beer. Had fish and chips for tea tonight with lots of ketchup and now watching Bridget Jones Diary.

NY in 3 weeks

Today it has suddenly hit me, In 3 weeks i will be in New York city for 10 days. I have swapped my NZ dollars for American dollars. I have my travel insurance and i have my aeroplane tickets. All i need now is tickets to get from JFK to Manhatten Chelsea. Does anyone know the best and cheapest way to get from JFK to Chelsea if i arrive at the airport at 11pm? I see that a company called SuperShuttle is an option but does anyone know whether this is the best method.

Last weekend i brought my suitcase to pack my stuff up in. We are going to be travelling light in anticipation of buying a few things in New York. Geee the city is going to be huge compared to New Zealand cities. I am also going to have to get used to those American accents that sound sooooooo SEXY :)

A few people commented on my trips to America to buy face products about travelling all that way-well believe me with shipping costs on the internet costing so much (usually at least the value of the product in Shipping costs), i may as well get the plane and get it myself:)

Ok, im off to bed to dream of my American holiday.

Night night (and a hug)

US Elections

Well believe it or not, the headlines on our TV were about the good old American elections. It seems that everyone around the world has enjoyed that Mr Bush has been given an arse whipping. I hear there has also been encouraging results in the elections in Massachussets ( i think that is how it is spelt!), New Jersey and Arizona but from reading Kelly Stern's blog, there were some disasterous results in Virginia. Just two more years befor there is a Presidential election!

I havent done too much today except work but we did go to the mall. I had a look at some of the skin care products which were out of my price range. I got a free sample of shiseido Men. I will try that tomorrow before work. Has anybody ever heard of Nickel Skincare for Men? I got some when i was in America last and it is pricey but good. Im about to run out so my trip to America in 3 weeks time will see me replenish my stock (one tube).

Anyways Im off to bed as an early start again for work tomorrow.

Happy Friday!

Night work

Night work! Who really wants to do it? I do it on and off and boy does it mess you up. I worked last night and i slept this morning for a while and now it is 1am and im wide awake. Im feeling hungry whereas at tea time i couldnt stomach any thing. I am peeing at unusual times and now i feel like i should be going out for a walk! The shocking thing is, is that next week i have to do four of these nights in a row. It will be like having ongoing jetlag.

I see that our American friends are in the grip of election fever. I have Fox on at the moment checking out some American news. How do you guys take the American accents seriously....lol only kidding guys!

Sitting here a the computer it is 1.15am. The rain is falling outside. It is late spring and summer is just around the corner. I love this time of year.

Guy Fawkes

Tonight I have been to the city fireworks display and they were awesome. It is Guy Fawkes night tonight and i think that three quarters of the city turned out to celebrate it. The day has been very warm at about 27c and it stayed like that just until the fireworks started when the wind suddenly got up in the space of 5 minutes turning the temperature down to about 9-10c. there was a great funfair in town and it made for a great entertaining day.

Now, i wonder if any Americans can help me with a question? hear that you are having something called 'Thanksgiving Day'. I have heard about it in a few movies but im not too sure what it is all about. Can anyone enlighten me? Is it a national holiday etc? By its name it sounds like you are thanking somebody. I heard that it is celebrated in November.

It is now the start of a new week. Hopefully it wont be too busy for me....

Fireworks

I have had my last exam today and i feel like i have been released from prison. I now feel lost without study. Im sure that i will get used to it.
Tonight we have been to a small fireworks display in preparation for Guy Fawkes night . Tomorrow there is a big display in the city which virtually half the city goes to. I often wonder why we celebrate an event that happened in England several hundred years ago but that's the way it is.

This year will also be special for fireworks as the government will be discussing soon as to whether to make the sale of fireworks to the general public illegal. I hear all the fireworks outside now as people are letting them off in their gardens. I know that a few people get hurt at home but i will so miss the child hood memories of the garden fireworks. Let's hope the proposed legislation fails.

The result

Well gentlemen, it seems that in the poll yesterday the current leader of which is best-blonds or brunettes is the brunettes. If you havent voted yet go to yesterdays posting and tell me which hair colour you prefer?

Today has been another day of revising for my final exam on Saturday. I think im nearly there but all should be well.

I've been looking around at a few blogs again. There are a few that are my favourites and you know who you are because i leave comments with the ones that i have enjoyed reading.

Fact of the day! The Princess and Prince of The Netherlands are currently here in New Zealand. Im trying to figure out their names as i didnt even know they had a prince and princess!!

Have a good day.

Blonde or Brunette?

I have had my exam today. I just wrote wrote wrote, i only hope i wrote the right stuff. I am now busy studying for my last exam on Saturday so i dont feel like time is my own.

I was thinking today, Which do i prefer, Blondes or Brunettes? Now we all know that it's not their hair colour or their body or wealth that matters when we see someone that's attractive, its their personality right!.......wrong. I was thinking, when you are checking out a guy (or girl) is their a particular hair colour that us boys are attracted to. I seem to like the two extremes i think, either extremely dark hair or extremely blond. On my way home from my exam i tried out the theory looking at all the men as were walking home and i think ifell into the brunette category but there were definitely some hot blonds.

Come on guys, lets start a poll, What do you prefer, blonds or brunettes?

I have to go to work now. Im on the nightshift and i think i just want to go to bed instead of work.
