The Queen
So the Queen has been in the United States on an official tour. She also had the chance to have tea and a glass of wine with Mr Bush. He also took the opportunity to give her a crafty wink during their speech with the media. Im sure Laura Bush would not have been amused! Did Americans even recognise that the Queen had visited and indeed were they even interested? The idea of royalty in America would seem like a quaint novelty im sure.
The Queen was last here in New Zealand a couple of years ago, i think 2001 for some reason. She is also our Head of State here in New Zealand just like she is for Canada and Australia. Her face is proudly displayed on all our coins and also the $20 note. She is represented in parliament by The Governor General.
Here, she is all but symbolic. No signs of NZ wishing for a republic yet but will that all change when Charles takes over?
Talking about that i saw the Queen DVD the other day. A very interesting movie and i recommend it.

The Queen's visit only emphasized what a crass, uncouth, uncultured baboon we have for a president. Minimally he does not even have the manners to wait until a lady and an elder is seated before he sits. She did not need to be a reigning monarch of a major allied nation. Elizabeth could have been the woman next door. He acted like the spoiled child that he is, one that does not even have the maturity of common courtesy.
Her Majesty did get quite a lot of coverage on the news here. I think she's amazing. I hope I look and move and think as well as she does when I get to be her age!
oh where in NZ do you live? email me.... i thought you were in auckland, but i realize that you're on S. Island, not North.
I loved watching all the coverage of Her Majesty while on her US tour. I would've loved to have seen her while she was in Virginia (only a 5 hour drive), but I was busy with work.
I'm quite the Royal Fan. :)
Her status is the same here in Canada. I watched Queen last week as well! Good Movie
Royalty facinates us here. Not what you would expect.
Her visit was certainly covered in the media, but I don't think it got as much attention as Paris Hilton's recent arrest did.
I enjoyed watching HMQ's visit. Looks like we treated her well. She had the full State Dinner treatment at the White House, so we did her proud.
nice blog by the way.
