50% off

Today has been more like summer with 27c and lots of sun. It's felt great! It is so nice that summer is here even though it is very late.

I dont know about you but arent you surprised about the number of sales that the shops are having? I go to the postbox and i retrieve about 20 booklets all advertising 20% off, 50% off, buy one get 2nd half price. Sale only on tomorrow for 1 day only. All stock must go. Crazy prices. Post post christmas sale, summer sale, Pre autumn sale!

I dont know about you but the retailers here have done great trading over christmas and now they just want more. What happened to the time when after christmas the retailers left you alone?

Oh and if you want to get in to the swing of things, the stores have just got in the first of their Valentine's Day chocolates and goods. So watch out guys Easter Eggs next week.

It is crazy. Valentines stuff was out here before New Years. Easter is out now too. So if you need any eggs,...

I know what you mean......a few days after Christmas I was walking through Wal-Mart and I saw them stocking one aisle with Valentine's Day candy and gifts. That means St. Patrick's Day won't be too far behind.

Per our discussion last night, by the time I read this, it's already Tuesday, so I hope your Monday was good. And by "good", you know what I mean ... ;)

Oh we too have Valentines junk up already, and St. Patricks is also up here and there.

Re: your avatar - I found the best site featuring delicious pics of fruit in large format. That original Kiwi was a massive JPG that I had to reduce to fit into the blog roll size constraints.

The weather here is remaining cold and more snow promised tomorrow (just in time for surgery day – oh joy!) before it is predicted to turn to rain and warm up to our more normal winter range of wet and sloppy. My earliest Rhododendron was already in bloom (r. “Lee’s Scarlet” bred in England to bloom very early, around Christmas) but the hard cold spell destroyed the flowers. The next one is getting ready to pop open. Will have pics of them for the next five months as they all bloom on their own internal time clock.

Will; be off work recovering until Friday. Take care. Will

I am trying to convince the honey to take me to New York soon to visit Jacques Torres chocolate shop for a Valentine's day treat! I LOVE his chocolate. It is the best. It makes me weak in the knees. You can even look at his site at www.mrchocolate.com. It is awesome. But if you get some, you will not want to share. It's that good. I have to hide it when I get it. And I had BETTER get it this year!

I don't know how it is in NZ, but here I think the "brick and mortar" stores are having such huge sales just to get rid of inventory. More and more people (like me)are shopping online for holiday gifts so the stores end up overstocked. My mother, who still does her shopping the old fashioned way, was raving about the sale prices in the stores even BEFORE xmas this year.
