Cheque Account

After years of paying atrocious amounts of money to have a cheque account here in New Zealand, 2 of our biggest banks have decided to scrap fees for using electronic banking services AND if you decide to stop paper statements then they wont charge you the $3.50 per month account fee. This is fantastic news as i will probably save about $15.00+ per month. I will have to pay a charge if i use another banks ATM (50c) but apart from that, zip. I will just use my own banks ATM machines!

Therefore, THANKYOU to Westpac Bank and to ASB Bank.

These two banks are the first to do free banking here but ANZ Bank, Kiwibank and Bank of New Zealand have reacted by doing a $5.00 per month flat fee for everything (except using someone elses ATM).

So with my $15.00 savings that i will make each month, i must spend it on something.

Any suggestions guys?

So?! Are you now into free bank advertising? As if they needed any, anyway...
Just kidding, Kevin! Well, my suggestion would be that every now and then you buy yourself something you can remember by these days in years to come. No beauty creams, no candies, nothing perishable! (Lol!)
Wish you a wonderful weekend!

Yay! Free banking is always a good thing. They make enough on loans and mortgages anyway.

As to what to buy, maybe some lube? ;)

I love the name kiwibank! I think kiwis are just adorable. But that is a story for another day. 15.00 could buy you a new CD... if you like music. What kinds of music do you like? I would probably buy music or a book...

As to what to do with the extra $15, you may make the check out to "Lemuel..." LOL!

I find it funny here in the US how, as the economy turned and some banks had some competition from small local banks who charged no fees, the big banks suddenly dropped their fees. They use to charge for everything - even it would seem, for sneezing on their sidewalk.
