Lunar Eclipse

Tonight all eyes have been looking at the sky to catch a glimpse of the lunar eclipse. The day here in NZ was cloudless until about 2pm this afternoon when the low cloud rolled in off the Pacific Ocean. The cloud has stayed all night until about 11pm tonight when the clouds became intermittent allowing New Zealanders to catch a good glimpse of the darkened disc in the sky showing a faint background of orange. The sky had intermittent cloud until around midnight when they started to hide the moon from view once again.

We did however see the eclipse and marvel at what powers the universe has. It makes me realise just how small planet earth is in the scope of things. I just wander what is beyond space?

Any ideas?

We saw the eclipse this morning in the USA northeast. Somehow as vast as the universe is, I cannot imagine that we are alone, but I'm not sure if the life forms are the same. I'm certain that they are not nearby.

kevin, i'm glad that you saw the lunar eclipse. unfortunately, i missed it!
you know, i have those questions about the outer space as well. we might not have the answer soon but i think we're getting closer.
i actually have mixed reaction on that matter as i'm partly scared and i'm partly excited to find out the truth.

I'm glad you could see it, Kevin. In Europe that was just impossible, since the Pacific area was the main «target».
Beyond space? Nothing! Space is what there is. Period. Beyond space is a philosophical question. Non-space is unexistant.
Life somewhere else? Definitely! Similar or different? Both are possible, I think. But both are quite far away indeed. Some may have started to travel hitherto, when there were no primates at all on earth... And they may arrive after we're long gone...
Abraço! :-)

I wasn't able to see it. But I remember how impressed I was in 1999 when there was a total eclipse of the sun in Germany.

Is there intelligent life in space? Hell, I'm not yet sure there's intelligent life on Earth...

Kev, such a shame you only got to see it so late. Here in Sydney, it was a perfect cloudless sky and balmy weather which made for some stunning views! Check out Muzbot's blog (it's linked to mine) for an awesome picture that he took!

Hi Kevin. Thanks for the comment on my blog. I have added you as link, if you don't mind. I like your blog. You are welcome to add me if you like ;-)
Seeing a lunar eclipse must be so cool. I haven't seen one here in a while, but most of the time I'm so oblivious to what's going on, lol. Last night we did have a yellowish full moon, which looked eary, but beautiful. Hope to hear from you soon. CTG (Ps, if you are on Facebook, let me know - I am under my real name, Morné)

I've only seen a couple of lunar eclipses in my time. From what I remember, they were very majestic.

I missed it too, Kev, but I can just imagine how beautiful it was to see it in person from the South Island.

Thanks also for commenting on my recent blog post. Yes, the stats are really remarkable. WHen we put our "heads" together, gay men can do just about anything. WOOOF.

I watched it for about 45 minutes until the was totally eclipsed, then I realised my neck was aching...it is always fascinating though...I really love astrology!
